About me- updated July 2007

Hello, welcome to my blog! My goal is to create a personal finance blog, and I hope in time it will be helpful and well-visited.

I am a twentysomething college grad, originally from the midwest but now living on the East Coast, and I have been married to my college sweetheart for three years. He's currently serving in the United States Navy, and I'm finding my way through the sometimes daunting life of a military spouse. While neither my husband nor I earn a significant income (our current household income is below $60,000 annually), we've managed to make major inroads into our long-term debt and have begun to fund our nest egg. I've been interested in personal finance for quite some time and I'm hoping that I can share some of my knowledge, findings, and recommendations with all of you, whomever you may be.
I am currently in the process of attaining Accredited Financial Counselor certification. This means that I will eventually be qualified to assist individuals and families with financial planning and decision making. The vast majority of personal finance bloggers are NOT credentialed, and while I am currently no exception, before August of 2008, I hope to be. That said, unless you and I have entered into a formal counselor-client relationship, none of the advice I give will be specific to your situation, and any suggestions you take will be at your own peril. If you do need financial guidance, the value of professional advice will be well worth its cost.

I'm trying to remain relatively anonymous for my husband's sake. You can call me Dimes, because I'm small and shiny, and not particularly valuable.

If you have any comments or concerns, email me at dimestodollars AT gmail DOT com.
All media inquiries should be sent to the same address, and I will respond as soon as possible.

Very nice job on your blog - and I think it will be inspiring and educational to alot of other military wives. I wish you and your husband the best of success and I pray that his deployment goes without incident.
