Gratuitous publicity, or something
My blog was recently reviewed on debtconsolidationcare.com, a site which claims to be "the internet's first get-out-of-debt community" and boasts ninety thousand or so members. While this may be the case, not a single hit on my sitemeter has come from this community since this review was published. :-) I cannot vouch for the Debt Consolidation Care's expertise or competence, and my browser settings really don't work well with their page, but maybe you'll have better luck than I did. I use Mozilla Firefox with ad-block on Windows XP, and have blocked most video sites by default. Nonetheless, some of the scripts affiliated with the site kept hanging my browser. Just be cautious.
I *can* tell you the Debt Consolidation Care community is based out of Calcutta, India, based on the time of the emails received (usually after 10PM Pacific) and my site stats, so take that as you will.
I'm obviously not getting paid to write this review, but am doing at the request of one of their staff members, one Liza Jolie, who has been, shall we say, very relentless in her emailing. So here it is. I'm sure my link to their site will make a huge difference in their traffic. ;-)

Very interesting. That same "community" has asked if they can review my blog. Said some of their members requested it. It will be interesting to see what happens.
Art (and anyone else who is solicited by these people): I'd advise you to ignore Liza Jolie (or whoever is bothering you). These people seem like they've been randomly trolling PF blogs for the past month, and hopefully they'll get tired of it soon.
I too, currently, have the exact request in my email. I have done nothing with it. I assumed it was something that everyone got - Thanks to you dimes, I know now.
For the record, I found your blog through the site in question. I, too, was solicited to link my blog, PFStock, to them. So, I was doing some research on these people before I agree to anything.
Anyway, I am glad that I found your posting. I don't think that I will go forward with their "offer".
Hello, Dimes. My name is Aaron Fetty. I'm a financial coach at Debt Consolidation Care and also a friend of the site's founder.
He told me that you refused to post his reply to your post. Perhaps it was too long, but I think it's only fair that you allow his response to be published.
I just wanted to mention that the online community is definitely *not* based in India. This community is comprised of a naturally developing group of people who have gone to our website, logged on, and shared real experiences.
Our contributors help thousands of people deal with serious debt problems, and I don't think it's fair of you to assume that all of our members are in another country because you've received some emails from India.
Click on "Testimonials" on our page or contact some of the site moderators if you want to verify the authenticity of our members. I think that if you read through some of the posts in the forum, you would quickly realize that our community is not based overseas.
I applaud you for starting a personal finance blog. I like the advice you've posted. Thanks for putting your valuable time into this important issue.
Aaron: Thank you for responding. I publish every comment posted here unless it is obscene or a spam post, and there's nothing in my queue so I am afraid it must have gotten lost. He is welcome to repost if he feels he should.
I understand that not all of your members are from India, but the person who solicited me over and over was from Calcutta, India. It may be that this individual was just freelancing to give the site some exposure, but it doesn't reflect well on the site when it appears that the operation is foreign-based. I'm glad to hear that it's not. :-)
This topic turns out to be interesting! Why not take the opportunity to create some more interaction between this blogger and the online DebtCC community. Any differences, if it's there, will fade away. I am a DebtCC member and I will try to get some members post on this topic.
Um yeah, either that last comment is a troll or this is where I rest my case.
Thanks for posting the comment from my colleague Aaron.
I started the debt consolidation care forums. To read more about how this community got started please see:

I am sorry to hear that you did not get a single hit from the review
of your blog on the Debtcc site. I am taking this as a feedback and I
will make blog reviews as part of the forums that way they will get
the attention of the rest of the Debtcc community and the hits to the reviewed blogs should follow. Also I will post a review of your blog in the pub section of the Debtcc forums. It would be really nice if you took some time out to update us if you get some visitors to your blog when the blog review is done as part of the forums and not as part of the static content pages of the site.
About the script that kept hanging your browser, can you please help me debug this problem since I have tried with different computers and I have not faced this problem.
In your review you posted that "Debt consolidation care" community is based out of Calcutta .. The community members are 95% US based
though a lot of the customer service and the programming is done from Calcutta, India. I live in Palo Alto though currently I am in Sparks, NV working on a new project and the servers for Debtcc are co-located in Fremont with Hurricane Electric.
Thanks for doing the review of the Debtcc site. I understand that this
is not really a positive review but it gives us a chance to have an
open conversation.
